Salt
Salt is any substance that dissolves in water by conducting electricity.
The cooking salt is represented by the substance sodium chloride - NaCl - that
is an ionic compound constituted by the ions Na + and Cl - organized through a
crystalline reticulum. When the crystalline reticulum of sodium chloride comes
into contact with water, a separation of ions occurs, a phenomenon called ionic
dissociation. The free ions obtained after dissociation are responsible for the
electrical conductivity. (Svante Arrhenius).
